WHAT DOES CULTURE MEAN TO YOU?
5:100 Festival
Celebrating 5 Years of Divided Culture Co.
In June 2026, with Divided Culture Co. turning 5 years old, and our home Salford turning 100, we decided to to throw a party!
We wanted to give something back to the city that has been our haven since we began, to show our appreciation to our community of artists and creatives. Over three summer days we hosted some of the North's most talented and cutting-edge creatives, staging three unique performances in our home at SEESAW and celebrating Northern theatre at its best.
small hours by Wisteria Theatre
A staging of Lucy Kirkwood's astonishing and deeply moving tale of loneliness, motherhood, and modern life, this elegant and thoughtful production in anchored by the incredible performance of Lauren-Nicole Mayes as the tragic, tormented lead. Female-led collective Wisteria Theatre created an atmosphere that invited both vulnerability and introspection, raising important questions about what happens when the world isn't watching.

Torso by Maddie Maycock
'A queer love story between the body and itself', says Maddie Maycock of their solo production exploring movement, space, and embodiment. Moving against the grain of modern ideas about beauty, bodies, and being, Maycock stages a stunning tale of falling back in love with oneself, through a combination of dance, spoken word, and theatre. Just watch out for the bees...

The Well by Bitterroot Theatre
In a vision of the New West, cowboy Duke teams up with Buck to search for a source of water to quench their dying town. But in their search for the fabled Well, it's you who will decide their fate. Laughs are abundant in this interactive Western in which the audience has their own part to play, with their choices shaping the story on stage as Chris Richards and Jake Rayner Blair bring a pair of lovable and hilarious characters to life.

Our 5th Birthday Bash
Happy birthday to us! Friday 26th June 2026 was our birthday party, and we wanted to celebrate with the ones we love best! We invited our creative family across Salford and Greater Manchester for a night of good food, good music, and great company at SEESAW. The night was hot, the city was sweltering, but we were in the capable hands of the wonderful SEESAW staff - and ate our weight in birthday cake.
There's no way we'd rather celebrate than by bringing together artists, creators, producers and more from across our local area. We were honoured to have the chance to create a community space for people to mingle, network, and help someone find their next creative partnership.
Then we realised: we don't need an excuse to celebrate.
Check back soon to find out how Divided Culture Co. could help you build your artistic network in Salford and Greater Manchester.
Library Installation: What does culture mean to you?
During the festival we asked our guests, colleagues, and friends to respond to the prompt: 'what does culture mean to you?' We saved their responses - everything from the profound to the relatable - and created an installation capturing the real, authentic culture of Salford in celebration of its hundredth year.
Find out what culture really looks like in Salford, and tell us what it means to you! Check our list below to find out when Divided Culture Co. will be coming your local library:
